Music Education According to the Kodály Concept

Singing is the core of music-making even when playing on an instrument

This Kodaly quote means a lot to me.
If you can sing something, you can imagine the sounds.
If you can imagine the sounds, you can do something wonderful with them on your instrument!

Improvisation

Can a bassoonist improvise? Most people associate improvisation with jazz, but it can also be done in the classical repertoire. I was lucky enough to be able to work jointly with the violinist Liesbeth Ackermans on her research regarding improvisation. https://www.researchcatalogue.net/view/235432/235433

It was a whole new world for me! If you would like to find out how you can improvise in classical music, come to one of the workshops

Creative Music Making

What is Creative Music Making? What is Collaborative Music Practice? In the study group puntComp I’m investigating, together with colleagues, how you can collaborate with each other to write a new composition. It’s possible to make music without playing an instrument. For example, with your voice, using body percussion and objects around you. You can also create a new composition together with other instrumentalists.
How does that work? Come to one of the workshops and find out!
